Zynga to close 13 games after shakeup, reduces focus on The Ville

Article.

"But which 13 games are they? That's the question on our minds after today's unfortunate layoffs of over 100 Zynga employees and the closure of its Boston Studio. Games.com News received an internal note from Zynga CEO Mark Pincus, which deals with far more than just the layoffs, as we've learned that Zynga plans to close down 13 different games in the process, and also shift its focus away from The Ville.

These 13 games are described by Pincus as being "older" games, but we still have no confirmed games to add to that list. Of course, we could speculate that games like FishVille, PetVille, YoVille and even the original Mafia Wars may be done for, but let's not also forget the large catalog of mobile games Zynga has also released over the past few years. Could games like Dream Zoo, Dream PetHouse or ForestVille also be on the chopping block?

Furthermore, what does this news mean for The Ville, which has been tied up in a copyright controversy with EA since earlier this year? Will the game remain open but stop being actively updated?"

Earthquake!

Just a little while ago at 12:20am I felt a small earthquake in my city! I was sitting in front of the computer and all of a sudden I felt the building shift a bit and a rumbling sound and then below me the ground was slightly vibrating. I did not not know what it was and then I went on Facebook and people had started posting statuses one after another saying "Earthquake!" and talking about it.... wow, it is such a crazy natural event happen. Montreal is not really prone to too many natural disasters or earthquakes. There have been a few earthquakes in the past... but wow! Still shocked!

Wow, so with all the rumors flying around about who the new American Idol judges will be, a lot of names got thrown out there... some said it would be Will.i.am, or Adam Lambert, or Justin Timberlake... but a name that got thrown out there with all of them was Nicki Minaj and I didn't think much of it until just now when I saw this photo on Facebook....
So these are the new judges of American idol!

There is one game on Facebook out of all of them that I really love to play and I have been playing it for a few years. It is Yoville and I don't know if you have played it or seen it but it is pretty fun. The point is to buy and decorate homes and you can dress your avatar up as well. I have played this game on and off but lately I am really into it again. This month happens to be my favorite time on Yoville.... it is the Halloween theme! Halloween is the best time on Yoville. I love the scary houses and items and costumes and you can even make haunted house partys and trick or treating events... I am really looking forward to this! Today they finally released the house and a few of the items but every week they put out more and more stuff so there is lots more to look forward to! Can't wait!!!

This is the outside of the new Halloween house!

Gagaville

Zynga is making a Lady GaGa inspired game based on Farmville. Apparently it will be called "Gagaville" and it comes out May 17th. There will be quests to complete in order to hear new unreleased songs off of the new Born This Way album  O_O

"In the past, Zynga has landed a number of high-profile partnerships with musicians and entertainment companies, including Snoop Dogg, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, The Green Hornet and others. But today, the social gaming giant is announcing its largest entertainment deal to date-with pop star Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga has partnered with Zynga p...reviously, when the company was raising money for releif efforts around the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. On May 17, Lady Gaga and Zynga will unveil, GagaVille – a neighboring farm on FarmVille, which is a Gaga inspired farm in-game. GagaVille will showcase Lady Gaga’s style and themes from the album and videos (crystals, unicorns, sheep on motorcycles); and gamers will have exclusive access in Farmville to songs from the artists’s new album “Born This Way” before the album is released later in the month. From May 17 to 19, players can unlock and stream a new un-released track per day. And from May 20 to 23, players can unlock and stream a significant portion of songs from the new album, plus special bonus remixes.

Additionally, Gaga branded Zynga $25 Game Cards, which will be available at Best Buy, will include a free download of Lady Gaga’s new album plus exclusive bonus tracks, exclusive Gaga virtual goods, and more.

Zynga is also partnering with Lady Gaga to offer branded virtual goods via Rewardville across ten of its games. Players can log onto RewardVille to redeem zCoins for exclusive limited edition Gaga inspired virtual items for the Zynga game. The company and artist are also holding a number of contests for players to get tickets to Gaga’s concerts.

In a statement, lady Gaga said: “I want to celebrate and share ‘Born This Way’ with my little monsters in a special way that’s never been done before…Zynga has created a magical place in FarmVille where my fans can come play, and be the first to listen to the album.” "
