Montreal's morning commuters were faced with delays on Wednesday as police investigated a suspicious package found shortly after 7 a.m. outside the Lionel-Groulx metro station.The metro station was evacuated. Montreal's public transit corporation said the green and orange lines are both running, but not stopping at the station.
Investigators used a bomb-disabling robot to inspect the package.
An officer on the scene said it's likely the scare is a false alarm.
Bus lines that normally stop at the Lionel-Groulx station are being rerouted along Delisle Street.
A shuttle bus service has been set up to run along the orange and green lines and stop at the metro stations immediately before and after Lionel-Groulx. Passengers who need to switch between the two lines can use the shuttle service to transfer at Lionel-Groulx station.Police are on the scene rerouting traffic.
Drivers heading east towards downtown are facing congestion and delays.
